Intern at Ohio Program of Intensive English (OPIE)
Job Description
The Ohio Program of Intensive English (OPIE) at Ohio University, Athens, seeks applicants for an Intern. Duties include (but not limited to):
Teach up to twelve classroom hours per week in the Ohio Program of Intensive English (OPIE).
Assist in course development, test construction, and/or materials creation.
Participate in testing, placement and student orientation duties at the beginning and end of each quarter.
Participate in academic and social activities for students and programs.
Attend faculty meetings and maintain appropriate office hours.
Possibility of reduced teaching load or extra stipend for mutually agreed upon additional program responsibilities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Candidates must have outstanding leadership, management, and interpersonal skills to relate to a wide diversity of faculty, staff, students and community members.
NOTES: International Candidates Will Be Considered. Employer will assist with relocation costs.
Additional Salary Information:
Three or more positions are available contingent upon sufficient enrollment and funding.

Requirements
M.A. in TESL or closely related field with previous TESL experience and/or TESL certificate training.
M.A. should be completed no earlier than June, 2009.
All applicants should have supervised ESL teaching experience.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching ESL in a university-based ESL program.
Willingness to teach all levels of and skills in Academic ESL.
Willingness to contribute to the development of the ESL programs.
Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural skills.
Collegial, professional demeanor.
English proficiency required in all skills. Hiring may be contingent upon English proficiency assessment.
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in or experience studying a second language.
International travel or overseas living experience.
